About Future Caucus

Future Caucus has an audacious mission: activate young leaders to bridge the partisan divide and transform American politics. Future Caucus is a national, nonpartisan organization dedicated to activating Gen Z and millennial policymakers to cooperatively govern our country. In 2013, Future Caucus organized the nation’s first and only caucus for young members of Congress, the “Congressional Future Caucus,” to forge pragmatic cooperation on future-oriented challenges.

Careers

Communications Director

The Communications Director will be responsible for leading Future Caucus’ press and media operations to amplify Future Caucus members and success stories, promote new narratives about the next generation of problem-solving, and build the Future Caucus brand. The Communications Director reports directly to the Chief Strategy & Public Affairs Officer, manages communications staff, and provides leadership, supervision, and oversight of the organization’s communications, public relations, and earned media strategies. Internships

Future Caucus is a nonprofit organization seeking qualified interns to take on significant responsibility, work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment, and contribute to organizational development and strategy. Interns will work at a high level with Future Caucus’ staff out of our Washington, DC office. Internship applications are accepted on a rolling basis, we are currently hiring for the Summer semester (May-August 2024). We will accept both remote and in person interns.  

Internship Candidate Requirements: 

• Passion for Gen Z & Millennials in politics and/or future-focused ideas  

• Hardworking, entrepreneurial spirit  

• Acute attention to detail  

• Strong research and writing skills  

• Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility  

Future Caucus internships provide a unique opportunity to contribute to a critical national cause with prospects of future employment. Interns will also have the opportunity to interface with leaders in the media, in state houses, and on our board of directors. Interns receive monthly stipends. Several Future Caucus interns have gone on to be offered full time staff positions upon graduation.

Membership and Impact Intern

Future Caucus is seeking a summer intern with a keen eye for detail to track and analyze data critical to our membership and impact functions. This role involves collecting, organizing, and interpreting information, including but not limited to data on 2024 Congressional and state legislature candidates, as well as outcomes of 2024 legislative sessions. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and a commitment to leveraging data for strategic decisions, enhancing member engagement, and evaluating organizational impact. This opportunity allows for significant contributions to our mission and offers valuable experience in data analysis within a vibrant, mission-focused environment.

Future Summit Intern

Future Caucus is seeking a summer intern to assist in the logistical planning and execution of our annual Future Summit. This vital role encompasses both pre-event planning and on-site event management, offering hands-on experience in organizing a high-profile event. Responsibilities include coordinating logistics, liaising with vendors, and ensuring the event runs smoothly. The intern must be available in Washington, D.C. the week of July 22, ready to tackle challenges and contribute to the success of the Summit. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain invaluable experience in event management within a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Policy Intern

The Policy Intern will focus on tracking Future Caucus policies at the state and federal levels. This individual is continuously informed about current events in US politics and will support Future Caucus in generating fact-based talking points and one-pagers for young lawmakers. Experience synthesizing large amounts of information into condensed analysis for quick comprehension is strongly preferred.

Digital Intern

An ideal candidate has prior experience contributing to an organization’s communication strategies or a related college major. This intern will compile daily press clips, draft social media content, create Wikipedia pages for members of our State Future Caucus Network, and track news and online discussions on Millennial and Gen Z political issues. The ideal candidate is a strong digital content writer, works well on short deadlines, and is familiar with industry best practices for engaging website and social media content.

Democracy Writer Intern

The Democracy Writer will assist our “On the Rise” storybank and help write profiles of Gen Z and millennial legislators across the country. This intern has the opportunity to interview young lawmakers and author blog posts and articles about the work of effective, cross-partisan elected officials. They will also capture stories about policy accomplishments from our bipartisan State Future Caucus Network. If you are applying for this position, please include a writing sample of no more than two pages with your application materials.
