MAP President Steven Olikara headlined the NGEN Experience opening session, directed at Independent Sector leaders under 40, where he joined a panel on Deconstructing the 2016 Election. Moderated by American Public Radio's David Brancaccio, the panel also featured Carolyn Dewitt, President of Rock the Vote, and activist DeRay Mckesson. Steven spoke on the need for post-election optimism, and the potential to build new coalitions in the upcoming legislative session.

Steven also represented MAP at the panel conversation entitled "Reconnecting Congress and Citizens." The panel was moderated by Daniel Stid, Director of The Madison Initiative, and also featured Betsy Wright Hawkings, Program Director for Democracy Fund, as well as Danielle Brian, Executive Director of The Project on Government Oversight (POGO). During the discussion, Steven addressed the need for the independent sector to engage with their congressional counterparts, and the importance of civic engagement.
