Senator David Wilson

ALASKA FUTURE CAUCUS, CO-CHAIR (R)

Sen. David Wilson represents Alaska’s D Senate District. Prior to serving in the Senate, he served as a city councilman in Wasilla.

He is originally from California and moved to Alaska 19 years ago. He has degrees in education, psychology and an MBA with a concentration in health service administration. He is a motivated but personable business professional with diverse experience.

David has taught throughout the Alaska in rural communities and provided technical assistance to Alaska’s Community Health Clinics and other safety net providers. He has worked in behavioral health field for eleven years; working with children and families, teens and adults. He specialized in working with youth and crisis intervention. More recent David was the director of a domestic violence and sexual assault program.

Upon his swearing-in in January 2017, Wilson became the first African-American man elected to the Senate.

Sen. Wilson serves as Chair of the Senate Health & Services Committee and is a member of the Senate Transportation, Senate Public Safety and Senate Labor & Workforce Development Finance Subcommittees, and the Senate State Affairs Committees.
