Millennial Action Project Partners with the National Conference of State Legislatures

August 4, 2015

This partnership will enhance and expand our state-level work with Millennial policymakers.

Today, Millennial Action Project (MAP) President and Co-Founder Steven Olikara is in Seattle, Washington at the 2015 Legislative Summit to announce a partnership between MAP and the National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) Young and New Professionals program (YNP).  This partnership will enhance and expand MAP’s state-level work with Millennial policymakers through its rapidly growing State Future Caucus Coalition.

Since 2013, MAP has built and supported the nation’s first-ever coalition of nonpartisan caucuses with Millennial legislators. These “Future Caucuses” are on the forefront of overcoming partisan gridlock to address important issues affecting Millennials. NCSL also brings tremendous experience, organizing the nation’s largest gatherings of state legislators and legislative staff for over 40 years. NCSL recently started providing focused educational resources and leadership development opportunities to young, newly elected state legislators through its YNP program.

MAP and NCSL look forward to providing our members with new opportunities for cross-collaboration, an enhanced network for sharing ideas, and a greater capacity to promote policy innovation.

The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the states, commonwealths and territories. It provides research, technical assistance, and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues and is an effective and respected advocate for the interests of the states in the American federal system.

The Millennial Action Project (MAP) is a national, nonpartisan organization activating Millennial policymakers to cooperatively govern our country. Since 2013, MAP organized the nation’s first and only caucus for young members of Congress, the “Congressional Future Caucus,” and expanded this model into state legislatures to forge pragmatic cooperation on future-oriented challenges.
