State Caucus Manager

ABOUT THE Position
The Millennial Action Project is immediately seeking to hire a State Caucus Manager. This individual will report to the State Caucus Network Director, and will primarily support the activities of the State Future Caucus Network including member engagement, program activities, and policy research.
ABOUT MILLENNIAL ACTION PROJECT
The Millennial Action Project has an audacious mission: make political cooperation a norm through Millennial leadership. MAP is a national, nonpartisan organization dedicated to activating millennial policymakers to cooperatively govern our country. In 2013, MAP organized the nation’s first and only caucus for young members of Congress, the “Congressional Future Caucus,” to forge pragmatic cooperation on future-oriented challenges. MAP also scaled this model into over 25 state legislatures, each with a Future Caucus consisting of young, high-potential legislators. The national Advisory Board includes Senator Olympia Snowe, Senator BIll Bradley, Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr., Governor Jennifer Granholm, and former U.S. Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra. State Caucus Manager Responsibilities:
Support work with state caucus co-chairs and their staffs to outline and execute on legislative priorities
Coordinate efforts to build out robust engagement with our existing state caucus co-chairs and members
Track and monitor relevant state and federal legislation around key State Future Caucus priorities
Conduct research, draft white papers, and create policy briefs on issues of priority to the organization
Execute the program’s communications strategy, including its online presence, with legislators and other vital stakeholders
Take on other tasks related to the State Caucus program or otherwise support MAP as needed
Please note that other tasks may arise related to communications, strategic development, operations, personnel and other tasks to support the efforts of the organization.
3-5 years working for a politically engaged organization or in the office of an elected official
Experience in policy research and event planning are required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to communicate with public officials, organizational allies, and members of the public
Proficiency with major database and CRM software such as EveryAction or similar platforms
Familiarity with website design and graphic design tools such as Squarespace and Canva
Firm understanding of state legislative processes and the priority issues of MAP
Strong organizational skills exemplifying a solution-focused perspective with attention to detail
Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work on a fast-paced, dynamic team
Openness to receiving and adjusting to constructive feedback
Ability to exercise sound judgment in the representation of MAP
A genuine commitment to MAP’s mission of working across party lines and political divides
Location: This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC. Some travel may be required.
