Vice President of Program Impact

Position Type: Full-Time

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer


The Vice President of Program Impact will play a key role in strategically advancing Millennial Action Project’s efforts in support of Millennial leadership and political collaboration. A new position created to support the organization's growth strategies, the individual in this role will work with the program team and staff to develop key ways to understand immediate programmatic impacts, evaluate how those impacts may contribute to sustainable systemic change, and improve program effectiveness and efficiency.

They will develop and execute a measurement and evaluation plan to ensure that the impact and outcomes of our Future Caucus programs are in line with our mission, goals, and values. This individual will work closely with the COO and CEO to present data and recommendations, help drive decisions, and further maximize the impact of MAP, the Future Caucus, and its members.

The ideal candidate will have political savvy, a strategic mind, and a love of data-driven decisions. Success for this position will mean that MAP’s strategies create measurable and sustainable social and political change. This position will be a part of the Executive leadership team, responsible for driving forward the overall success of MAP.


  • Program Improvement and Innovation

    • Provide management, guidance, and input to program staff in developing and executing program strategy

    • Work with the team to suggest new strategies, pilots, and areas of research to help solve problems, improve effectiveness, and increase efficiency in the program.

    • Using findings from evaluations, work with program staff to determine best practices and create standards around those practices.

  • Measurement and Evaluation

    • Develop and implement a Measurement Plan to evaluate program success

    • Determine appropriate benchmarks and milestones to review program impact, and monitor data for completeness in order to carry out the measurement plan

    • Perform routine evaluation at the end of each program phase as per the measurement plan and present findings to program staff and leadership

    • Meticulously track data related to MAP and Future Caucus members’ relationship building, legislative activity, and public engagement

    • Leverage internal and external data to systematically assess performance and provide a platform for organization-wide learning and improvements

    • Work with the team to develop strategies for disseminating learning to key audiences

    • Contribute to the development of knowledge management systems that codify, store, and manage results and learning

  • Manage and supervise staff

    • Set performance goals and deadlines that align with the company’s plans and visions

    • Organize workflow and ensure that direct reports understand their duties and delegated tasks

    • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching

  • Passion for MAP’s mission and the health of our democracy

  • A minimum of 8 to 10 years’ experience in a role with similar responsibilities, preferably in a high-growth organization. Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Must have a strong strategy framework and direct experience with strategy development and performance measurement.

  • Must be very logical and structured in thinking with excellent problem solving ability, tempered by an unmatched ability to pivot in response to opportunities and challenges.

  • Deep sense of curiosity, and demonstrated interest in learning, distilling lessons, and turning them into action.

  • Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker

  • Strong and supportive team player

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, ability to facilitate discussion, and capacity to liaise with multiple stakeholders

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills

  • Proven experience as a manager or relevant role; demonstrated leadership skills

  • Creative, entrepreneurial, and self-motivated orientation

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in the representation of MAP

  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail

Location: This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC. Some travel may be required.
